Raipur, May 27, 2025: First Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Arun Kumar passed away yesterday. A condolence meeting was organized today at the Secretariat and two minutes of silence was observed before paying rich tributes to him.
Arun Kumar was appointed as the first Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh on October 30, 2000 at the time of formation of Chhattisgarh state. Chhattisgarh was carved out from Madhya Pradesh on November 01, 2000 as a separate state.

Since the state was being created that time he had contributed immensely for overall development of the new state along with setting up every things, starting from the state Secretariat to other important offices.
Officials described the work done by him during his services as very important.
Paying Arun Kumar rich tributes officials spoke about their work experiences with Kumar and spoke about his personality and his excellent administrative ability.
Former Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Suyogya Kumar Mishra, while paying tribute to late Arun Kumar, talked about his experience of administrative work with him and his personality.
Officials said that after he became the Chief Secretary, a meeting of collectors related to disaster management was held because that time the state was facing famine like situation. Describing him as an efficient administrative officer, speakers cited their experiences.
Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Pingua said when Arun Kumar was the Chief Secretary, he was the Collector of Janjgir-Champa district. Expressing his views about his administrative work and efficiency at that time, he expressed grief over his demise and paid his tribute and expressed condolences to his family.
Additional Chief Secretary Richa Sharma also paid tribute by sharing her experiences.
Conducting the condolence meeting, Principal Secretary Niharika Barik Singh paid her tribute to former Chief Secretary Arun Kumar.
Principal Secretary Sonmani Bora said that after being appointed in the Indian Administrative Service, he was posted in Durg district and during this time he got the opportunity to meet former Chief Secretary Kumar.
Similarly, former IAS SK Tiwari, Dinesh Srivastava and RS Vishwakarma, Secretary Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary Ankit Anand, Secretary Shehla Nigar, Divisional Commissioner Mahadev Kavre and other officials paid their tributes.
