Raipur, February 4, 2009: Chhattisgarh Assembly today passed the second supplementary budget of Rs 1147.85 crore and its appropriation bill after discussion.
A total of 17 members participated in the discussion on the supplementary budget and replying to that the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said for the first time in the history of India any state was paying Rs 880 as bonus to farmers for their paddy.
This budget has also provision for 2 lakh government employees of the state, he said adding the state government is for development of all sections of the society.
For value addition, they are taking steps to start processing centres for minor forest produce in the state, Singh said.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey said the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has collapsed in the state.
In Lormi area payments have not yet been cleared for the last ten months, he said while drawing the attention of the Chief Minister.
The senior Congress Leader also said about 150 wild elephants are creating trouble in north region of the state and especially in Sarguja area and the state government should take effective measures to control that.
