Advice to farmers: Spray fertilizer and fungicide only in clear weather

     Raipur, 25 August 2025: According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall in the state in the coming days, in view of this, agricultural scientists have advised farmers to spray fertilizer and fungicide only when the weather is clear to protect standing crops and increase production.

      If the problem of green moss is seen in the paddy crop, it is advised to drain out the water from the field and tie a bundle of copper sulphate as per requirement at the water entry point. It has been recommended to spray 30 kg of urea per hectare as the second quantity of nitrogen fertilizer at the stage of paddy emergence.

     It is advised to use balanced fertilizers for the prevention of bacterial blight disease and spray potash at the rate of 8-10 kg per hectare when the disease appears.

      In case of outbreak of stem borer disease in paddy, it is advised to spray Kurtap hydrochloride 50 WP one kg per hectare or Chlorantraniliprole 150 ml per hectare by dissolving it in 500 liters of water. It is advised to spray one fourth of the total recommended quantity of nitrogen (30 kg per hectare) in the form of urea 25-30 days after transplantation and thereafter to hold water in the field for 24 hours.

     The remaining 25 per cent quantity of potash should also be sprayed during this period. In case of sheath blight disease in paddy, it is advised to spray hexaconazole at the rate of 1 gram per liter of water.

     In case of girdle beetle problem in Soybean crop, spray Thiaclopid 21.7 SC at the rate of 750 ml per hectare and for controlling leaf eating caterpillars and white fly, pre-mixed insecticide (Betacyfluthrin-Imidacloprid 350 ml per hectare or Thiamethoxam-Lambda Cyhalothrin 125 ml per hectare) should be used. This method will also prove helpful in controlling stem fly.

     In the initial stage of stem blight disease in pigeon pea crop (Arhar), its prevention is possible by spraying copper-based fungicide 2.5 grams per liter of water or Metalaxyl MZ 1.5 grams per liter of water two-three times at an interval of 10-12 days.

     In case of powdery mildew disease in Moong and Urad crop, it is advised to make a solution of soluble sulfur at the rate of 3 grams per liter of water and spray it. To prevent white fly attack, spraying of Imidacloprid at the rate of 0.5 ml per liter of water will be effective.

     Keeping in view the possibility of moderate rainfall as per the weather forecast, farmers have been asked to ensure the arrangement of additional water drainage in Moong and Urad crops.
