Raipur, July 14, 2026: During the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, the Assembly complex today resonated with the spirit of greenery, public participation, and reverence for motherhood.
In a massive tree plantation event organised under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant, Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kedar Kashyap, and all other members of the Assembly planted saplings and reaffirmed their commitment to environmental conservation.
This pledge went beyond mere tree planting; it emerged as a collective resolve to protect nature, honour motherhood, and build a safe, green future for coming generations. During the event, the public representatives also took photographs at a special selfie point created for the campaign and urged the people of the state to plant as many saplings as possible and ensure their protection.
Chief Minister Sai planted a Rudraksh sapling. Speaking on the occasion, he noted that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign—launched at the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—has now transformed into a nationwide mass movement. The campaign is not limited to planting saplings; it stands as a powerful symbol of gratitude towards one’s mother, sensitivity towards nature, and responsibility towards future generations.
He remarked that when an individual plants a sapling in their mother’s name, an emotional bond is formed with the plant, motivating the person to ensure its protection. It is this sentiment that makes the campaign sustainable, effective, and driven by public participation.
The Chief Minister stated that the initiative by MLAs to plant saplings in their mothers’ names within the Chhattisgarh Assembly complex is deeply inspiring. The message conveyed from the Assembly complex will undoubtedly generate fresh awareness regarding environmental conservation across the entire state.
Expressing gratitude to Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh for this innovative event, he stated that this initiative would play a pivotal role in transforming tree plantation into a mass movement within society.
Sai remarked that the entire world is currently grappling with serious challenges such as climate change, global warming, erratic rainfall, rising temperatures, and the loss of biodiversity. Under these circumstances, tree plantation is not merely an environmental activity but the most effective means to safeguard human life, conserve natural resources, and secure the future for generations to come.
He emphasized that trees are the foundation of the Earth’s balance. They provide us with clean air, aid in water conservation, preserve biodiversity, and ensure a healthy environment. Therefore, every citizen should plant at least one sapling and nurture it with the same devotion and care they would extend to a family member.
The Chief Minister stated that the state government is according top priority to environmental conservation alongside the development of a progressive Chhattisgarh. Initiatives such as forest conservation, expanding green cover, water conservation, biodiversity enhancement, and public-participation-driven environmental campaigns are being continuously promoted across the state.
He expressed confidence that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign would reach every village, city, and household in the state, transforming nature conservation into a shared social responsibility and a mass movement. He noted that if every citizen pledged to plant and nurture a sapling in their mother’s name, it could set an exemplary model for the future.
Members of the Legislative Assembly participated enthusiastically in the event, planting saplings of various species in honour of their mothers and pledging to protect them.
Senior officials, including Principal Secretary Forest and Climate Change Manoj Kumar Pingua and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force Arun Pandey, along with public representatives and Forest Department personnel, were present on the occasion.
