Raipur, July 22, 2026: In a significant decision Chhattisgarh Cabinet today, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, to ensure the rehabilitation and dignified employment of Agniveer soldiers; approved a provision reserving 10 per cent of Class III posts for Agniveers in direct recruitment.
The Cabinet approved a proposal to frame the Chhattisgarh Agniveer Soldiers (Reservation of Vacancies in Class III Posts in State Civil Services) Rules, 2026.
This rule provides for a 10 per cent reservation for Agniveer soldiers in the direct recruitment of Class III posts across the state, specifically including Constables in the Police Department, Forest Guards in the Forest and Climate Change Department, and Warders in the Jail Department.
Officials stated that this decision was taken in compliance with the announcement made by the Chief Minister in the Legislative Assembly on July 26, 2024.
The benefit of this reservation will be available to those Agniveer soldiers who have completed four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces and have been discharged with a valid service certificate.
They added that this decision would provide Agniveer soldiers with better employment opportunities in state services, while the Police, Forest, and Jail administrations would benefit from their experience and discipline.
Additionally, in another decision, the Council of Ministers approved a proposal to constitute a Cabinet Sub-Committee. This committee aims to ensure the timely and smooth availability of fertilizers to the state’s farmers during the Kharif and Rabi seasons and to provide suggestions, recommendations, and guidance on matters related to fertilizer supply, distribution, and management.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao has been nominated as the Chairperson of this sub-committee, while Agriculture Minister Ram Vichar Netam, Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap, and Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary have been nominated as members.
The Agriculture Production Commissioner will serve as the convener of the sub-committee. The sub-committee will be empowered to invite officials from relevant departments, subject matter experts, and representatives from other organizations as needed, and will offer suggestions to the state government regarding issues concerning fertilizer availability and supply.
