Raipur, June 29, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today re-launched the ‘Charan Paduka Yojana’ by making women tendu leaf pluckers wear Charan Paduka in Jamgaon of Durg district.
More than 12 lakh 40 thousand tendu leaf pluckers of the state will now get direct benefit of another guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials said.
Chief Minister Sai said his government is constantly striving to strengthen and secure the living standards of forest dwellers and tendu leaf collectors.

Free shoe distribution scheme Charan Paduka Yojana is a symbol of the gratitude to those hardworking people who work to collect forest produce in difficult conditions, Sai said adding that tendu leaf collectors have an invaluable contribution to the state’s economy, forest produce based employment and local prosperity.
It is due to their hard work that the forest produce tradition of Chhattisgarh remains alive and lakhs of families get livelihood support, he said.
‘Charan Paduka Yojana’ was an important promise of BJP’s manifesto “Modi Ki Guarantee”, which his government has fulfilled with full commitment. This scheme is not just about distribution of shoes, but is also a tribute to the labour and self-respect of tendu leaf collectors, the Chief Minister said.
Through this scheme, they are paying tribute to the hard work of tendu leaf collectors, which reaches the prosperity of the state through the trails of the forests, he said.
The state government is a partner in their every happiness and sorrow and it is the duty of the government to ensure dignity and security in their lives, CM Sai told the function.
