Raipur, November 26, 2024: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today joined the Constitution Day Padyatra programme along with his cabinet colleague and MLAs.
The Constitution Day Padyatra started from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College Auditorium, Raipur and ended at Ambedkar Chowk.

The Chief Minister paid homage to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar by garlanding his statue.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tankaram Verma, former Assembly Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik, MLAs Indra Kumar Sahu, Guru Khuswant Saheb, Anuj Sharma, Women’s Commission member Laxmi Verma and Youth Commission Chairman Vishwajeet Tomar were present in this padyatra.
Chief Minister Sai, while addressing the programme organized at Medical College Auditorium on this occasion, said our Constitution is a mirror of India’s centuries-old culture, history and traditions. This Constitution is the result of our centuries of struggle, experience and achievements.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the celebration of Constitution Day 2024 has started from today, 26 November.

Today, 75 years have been completed since the adoption of the Constitution of India, he said.
The Chief Minister said that where our Constitution makers have written about fundamental rights, they have inscribed the picture of Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita and brother Laxman. He said that this picture is of when Lord Shri Ram was returning to Ayodhya after conquering Lanka. We have to understand what message our Constitution makers have given us through this picture. There are many such pictures and signs in the Constitution, through which the Constitution makers have indicated that we have to take democracy forward with Indian culture and life values.
The Chief Minister said that it is also a big feature of our Constitution that it also has a provision for amendment if required in accordance with the changing times.
“Our constitution makers did not impose their wishes and ideas on the country, but with their foresight left the scope for the future generation to amend it according to the circumstances of their time, knowledge of their time, and the needs of their time,” he said.

In the programme, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tankaram Verma said that on this glorious moment of Constitution Day, we have to make people aware of the rights given by the Constitution and our fundamental duties. The Constituent Assembly created the Constitution in two years, 11 months and 18 days. This Constitution of India is an ideal for the whole world. The Constitution is not just a book, but a philosophy of life in democracy. The Constitution determines the rights and duties. It is an indicator of the unity and integrity of the country, he added.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap said that to make the Constitution of India reach the masses, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for celebrating Constitution Day. The world’s largest Constitution gave the daughter of the forest region the opportunity to occupy the highest post of President of the country. If there is any means to take the Dalits forward, it is the Constitution of India. To keep democracy strong, all the people of the country have to be aware of the duties given in the Constitution. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution of India, will be remembered for ages.
Former Assembly Speaker and MLA Dharam Lal Kaushik said that after the independence of the country, the Constitution was created to keep democracy intact. Constitution Day is a day to pay tribute to the Constitution makers. On this day, everyone should take a pledge on the accountability of duties.
This event is being organized to make people aware of the importance of the Constitution, which will run throughout the year. For this, the tagline “Our Constitution – Our Self-Respect” has been decided.
On this occasion, Sports Department Secretary Himshikhar Gupta, Raipur Collector Gaurav Kumar Singh, Raipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Avinash Mishra, District Panchayat CEO Vishwadeep, Sports Department Director Tanuja Salam along with other officials and school students were present.
