     Raipur, November 14, 2025: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) swept the Bihar assembly election with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party with 89 seats and the Janata-Dal (United) finishing a close second with 85. Main opposition RJD and Congress have a very dismal performance.

     With single largest party BJP has won 89 seats, whereas Nitish Kumar led Janata Dal (United) won 85, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJPRV) was victories in 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAMS) got  five, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha won four seats.

     With this the ruling NDA got 202 seats, a three-fourths majority in the 243-member House. This is the second time NDA has crossed 200 mark in the assembly polls. In the 2010 elections, it had won 206 seats.

     In Mahagathbandhan, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) registered victory in 25 seats, Congress 6, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) – CPI(ML)(L) – two, Indian Inclusive Party (IIP) – one and CPI (M) one seat.

     All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has won five seats, and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) got one seat in the 2025 Bihar assembly election.

     In terms of vote share, RJD got 23 per cent votes, BJP got 20.08 per cent and JD (U) got 19.25 per cent votes.

         Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is poised to take oath for another term in office as the alliance partners of NDA have also registering high strike rates where as parties of the Mahagathbandhan, including the RJD and Congress, suffered significant setbacks, and Prashant Kishor led Jan Suraaj even failed to open its account.

     Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ddressing the victory celebrations at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, said NDA’s sweeping victory in Bihar has paved the way for the BJP’s victory in assembly polls next year in West Bengal.

     The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana is seen is a prime reason for NDA victory as  the ruing party given Rs 10,000 to over 1.20 crore women in Bihar.
