Korba, February 25, 2011: Korba police today arrested two persons, who were allegedly engaged in collection of huge amount of money from trucks in the name of flying squad of Regional Transport Office and seized Rs 3.00 lakh and a Bolero vehicle among other valuables.
Truck owners Mahendra Singh Rajput and others had complaint to Korba District SP Ratan Lal Dangi that two persons, claiming themselves to be Flying Squad Inspector and his official driver, were asking Rs 500 to Rs 1000 from each truck passing via Kotmer jungle of Kartala Road and if the money was not paid the drivers of the transport vehicles were severely assaulted.
A surprised Dangi, himself asked all the police stations to cordon off the area and apprehend the white colour Bolero and its occupants and after a long chase, they were spotted and captured near Kotwali Police Station on their way to Korba via Urga.
On search, police recovered over Rs 3 lakh cash, documents of various vehicles, canes and arrested the two youths, who are said to be from Chhal village of Raigarh district. The Bolero vehicle has also been seized, police said.
