Raipur, May 27, 2025: The Chhattisgarh government led by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today taken a major decision with the aim of improving the quality of school education and has issued an order for rationalization of a total of 10,463 schools in the state.
The Chhattisgarh Education Department has issued an order for rationalisation of a total of 10,463 schools in the state, which includes 5849 schools of E-cadre and 4614 schools of T-cadre. This order has been implemented with immediate effect, official sources said today.
This rationalisation order is in line with the instructions of the National Education Policy 2020 and the Right to Education Act 2009, the main objective of which is to ensure balanced and effective use of educational resources, the sources said.
School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Pardeshi clarified that only administrative coordination has been done in this process, and no post has been abolished.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has said that the visionary decision of the School Education Department is a strong initiative towards making school education better, inclusive and effective.
The Chief Minister has praised the decision of the Education Department regarding the rationalisation of schools and said that this step is going to give a new direction to the education system of the state.
He said that this decision will not only ensure better use of the resources of teachers, but will also give students an opportunity to get quality and continuous education.
Sai said that the adjustment of schools of different levels in the same campus is not only useful from the administrative point of view, but it will maintain the continuity of education and will also get rid of the problem of student dropout. This will make the school environment more effective and will also increase the confidence of the children.
He said that this step taken in line with the National Education Policy 2020 will prove to be a milestone in making Chhattisgarh a leading state in the field of education.
School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Pardeshi informed that under the rationalisation of schools, 10,297 schools operating in the same campus have been rationalised.
Apart from this, 133 schools located within a radius of one kilometre in rural areas and 33 schools located within a radius of 500 meters in urban areas have also been rationalised, Pardeshi added.
He informed that this initiative will now make it possible to deploy surplus teachers in teacherless and single teacher schools. This will also lead to a direct improvement in the quality of education. Due to rationalization, additional availability of teachers will be ensured, which will also create balance in other needy schools. This adjustment will also reduce the establishment expenditure, which will make more investment possible on educational infrastructure.
The School Education Secretary informed that due to continuity of studies in the same campus, the dropout rate of children will decrease, and the student retention rate will improve. Due to rationalisation of schools, children will not need to take admission again and again, and their education journey will be more smooth and continuous.
He said that rationalisation will also make it easier to create better infrastructure in school campuses, in which library, computer lab, science laboratory and sports facilities can be shared. This move of the state government is in line with the cluster school concept proposed in the National Education Policy, where education from primary to higher secondary level is ensured in an integrated campus.
Pardeshi said that only administrative coordination has been done in this process, no post has been abolished. This move will enable equitable distribution of teachers and quality education will be more easily available to children. Rationalisation has been done following the provisions of student-teacher ratio under the Right to Education Act 2009, which will play an important role in improving the level of educational quality in the state.
“This initiative of the Chhattisgarh government will not only strengthen the current educational structure, but will also lay the foundation for a sustainable, strong and inclusive education system for future generations. The School Education Department’s far-sighted decision to rationalise schools is a strong initiative towards making the state’s education system better, inclusive and effective. Rationalisation will not only ensure equitable distribution of educational resources, but will also provide children an opportunity to receive quality and continuous education. This is an important step towards making Chhattisgarh a leader in the field of education,” said Chief Minister Sai.
