Raipur, November 22, 2024: At least 10 Maoists were shot dead today by the security forces in a gun battle in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, a top police officer said.
“Dead bodies of 10 Maoists have been recovered so far from the forestry area of Sukma district,” Chief of anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh Vivekananda told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here.
“Automatic weapons, including AK-47 and Self Loaded Rifle (SLR), have also been recovered after the encounter,” Vivekananda said.
“It was an intelligence based operation as we had the inputs about the movement of the cadre of PLGA (People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army) Platoon Number 4 and 8,” Bastar Range Inspector General of Police P Sunder Raj said.
“10 bodies have already been recovered and search operation is on,” Sunder Raj said.
The bodies are being identified whether they are from inter-state cadre from Odisha or local cadre, the Bastar IGP said.
The gun battle took place in the forest area of Korajuguda, Dantespuram, Nagaram and Bhandarpadar of Bhejji Police station area of Sukma district in Bastar region, he said.
Reinforcement has been sent to the area for intensive search and operation, the top police officer said.
