Dantewada, April 16, 2009: At least two CRPF jawans were killed today and three injured in a naxal attack in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on the day of the Lok Sabha election in Chhattisgarh.
After giving a poll boycott, the Maoists have targetted the police forces in several places and engaged the state and the central forces in gun battles, officials told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
In such an incident at Maruki under Gadiras Police station area of Dantewada district, the Maoists attacked a police party, which was escorting a polling party and killed two of the jawans and injured three CRPF personnel, they said.
The polling party was also severely assaulted by the Maoists before releasing them, the officials said.
Additional forces have been rushed to the spot.
Including Bastar and Kanker seat, all the eleven Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh today went to poll.
