Jagdalpur, August 29, 2008: In a major strike the Maoists today land mined a CRPF convoy killing an Inspector and five jawans of the para military forces in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh.
Maoists today triggered a powerful improvised explosive devise killing on the spot five CRPF personnel where as another killed on way to hospital, CRPF sources said.
The blast was so powerful that the vehicle was blown into pieces near Chheribeda, about 325 km from Raipur, they said.
Among the killed are an Inspector R S Kang of Punjab where as Ramesh Chandra Patra, Santhal Kumar Dhal and Driver B B Mahant, are from Orissa, Narpat Singh Boga is from Chhattisgarh and K Tamanna is from Andhra Pradesh, they said.
The incident took place when CRPF Commandant Satpal Rawat, in a convoy of three vehicles, was proceeding from Kondagaon to inaugurate a school building at Manjmeta, the sources said.
