Raipur, September 18, 2008: The Meteorological Department today issued a warning of a very heavy rainfall in some places of Chhattisgarh even though administration had started evacuating people in some places.
In some places the state would experience even as high as 25 CM rainfall or very heavy rainfall till tomorrow, Meteorological Department told the ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
Since yesterday the entire state has been experiencing heavy rainfall in many parts and in some places there would be much more in the next 24 hours, they said.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen has directed his administration to take all steps to evacuate the villagers from Chhura, Chikhli and Pantura after flood waters of Pairi entered their villages in Gariabandh block of Raipur district.
The state government today also informed the Centre and the Indian Air Force of the flood situation of the state and asked them to remain prepared for any emergency, according to Oommen.
Met Department said many places had more than 10 CM rainfall today with 19 CM in Kanker district’s Narharpur and 17 CM in Dhamtari district, 13 CM in Raipur district and 12 CM in Janjgir-Champa district.
Since yesterday Chhattisgarh was experiencing heavy rainfall crippling the normal life through out the state.
