Raipur, August 07, 2011: Chhattisgarh Government has offered a token amount of one rupee land and other lucrative concessions to organisations to set up private medical colleges in the state.
Chhattisgarh Government has decided to seek collaboration with the private sector in establishment of new medical colleges in the state as it wanted to achieve the national average of one doctor against every 1000 population, an important government document said here.
The state preferred establishment of medical colleges in the districts or towns, which do not have a medical college at present, the document said.
The state government was even ready to provide land at a token amount of one rupee for setting up the medical college, the Health Department decision said.
On behalf of the state, Director Health Services Dr Kamal Preet Singh has sought collaboration with the private sector in establish and manage medical colleges as per the norms prescribed by the Medical Council of India.
Besides offering land in a token amount of one rupee, the state government has also offered leasing out of a Government district hospital for a period of five years to run the medical college.
“The private party may be allowed to utilise the government district hospital of the concerned district on lease for a period of five years or until the time the private party has established its own hospital, which ever is earlier,” the paper for the public private partnership (PPP) mode said.
However, the state has sought expression of interest before August 30, next from such national, international, joint venture, NGOs, or trusts having the annual turnover of Rs 50 crore, a positive net worth of Rs 30 crore and at least five years experience of operating a 300-beded or large general hospital.
