New Delhi, October 14, 2008: The Election Commission today enforced the model code of conduct with immediate effect in Chhattisgarh with the announcement of the schedule for state assembly polls.
All the provisions of the Model Code will apply to the whole of the State and will be applicable to all candidates, political parties, the State Government concerned and the Union Government from today itself, the Commission said here.
Issuing guide lines for the November 14 and 20 elections, the Commission also said there shall be no appeal to caste or communal feelings for securing votes.
Also Mosques, Churches, Temples or other places of worship shall not be used as forum for election propaganda.
Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh Government today withdrew all the display advertisements of the Raman Singh government from all the media.
With immediate effect all the advertisements from the news papers, magazines, and electronic media including web sites have been withdrawn after the model code of conduct was in force in the state due to November 14 and 20 assembly election, state Public Relations Department officials said in Raipur.
The ban on the display advertisements of the state government would be in force till the model code of conduct is in force, they clarified.
