Raipur, January 12, 2013: Congress party today expressed deep sorrow and concern over the report of another alleged rape case in a tribal hostel.
Condemning the alleged incident, senior tribal Congress leaders Mahendra Karma, Kawashi Lakhma, Prem Sai Singh, Phulodevi Netam, Shiv Netam, Ambika Markam and others in a joint statement said it was really a matter of worry and concern.
The latest case of Balod District after the Kanker incident, the tribal society was feeling humiliated, they said.
Like the Kanker incident, in the case of Amadula Girls Ashram hostel also the tribal society had complaint to the district collector of ill treatment about nine months back, the statement said. But instead of taking action against the Superintendent, she was made nodal officer, it added.
The Congress also raised questions, how the superintendent was honoured in the hand of Chief Minister on January 10, last as the best superintendent a day before her arrest for her alleged involment in the alleged rape case.
How the state government had selected her without verifying her antecedent, the Congress party questioned.
The report of alleged rape of about two dozens residents of a pre-Metric Ashram hostel in Narharpur block of Kanker district has created a upheaval in the state and the country pushing the state BJP government into a defensive in the election year.
