Mungeli, January 12, 2013: All nine new districts would soon have their new Zilla Panchayats, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said here today.
Addressing a special function to mark the first foundation day of Mungeli District, which was created from Bilaspur district, the Chief Minister said new Zilla Panchayats would soon be created in all the nine new districts.
This decision, when implemented, the people of the concern new district would vote to power its new leaders, including Zilla Panchayat Chairperson.
Although new districts have been formed but the District panchayats have not yet been bifurcated and are being operated under the undivided Zilla Panchayats.
Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Aman Kumar Singh were also present in the function.
