Raipur, November 05, 2014: General Elections for urban local bodies and the panchayats would be held in December and January, officials said today.
Urban local bodies election would be held in the month of December, officials said adding preparations have already been started for the municipality election.
Panchayat elections would be held in January-February 2015, they said.
Over 1.70 Lakh people’s representatives would be elected during the election, they said.
For a smooth conduct of the election, the State Election Commissioner Prafulla Chandra Dalei met the Chief Secretary Vivek Kumar Dhand and discussed the preparedness and other arrangements.
Looking into the Maoist violence, the municipality and panchayat elections would be held in several rounds, the sources said.
