Dantewada, November 9, 2008: Four days ahead of the state Assembly election, a large number of Maoists today shot dead two top BJP leaders of Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh and set on fire their election campaign vehicle.
When BJP District Vice President Ramesh Singh Rathor and Kuakonda President Surya Prakash Singh Chouhan were on an election campaign in Nakulnar area, armed Maoists captured them, Dantewada District Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
Both the leaders were shot dead and the four-wheel vehicle, in which they were campaigning, was set on fire, he said.
Locals said the incident took place in Bade Gudra village under the Nakulnar Police Station area.
Today is the market day also in Bade Gudra and the incident took place close to the market, BJP sources said.
