Raipur, January 03, 2023: Ruling Congress in Chhattisgarh today organised a massive rally to send a message to the Raj Bhawan for giving early assent to the Reservation Amendment Bill, which favoured 76 per cent reservation for the SC, ST, OBC and economically weaker sections of the society.
Leave stubbornness and sign on the Reservation Bill, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel urged the Governor Anusuiya Uikey from the Congress rally, which was organised in the Science College ground here in the capital city of Chhattisgarh by the state PCC.
The Governor had said without any delay she will sign the bill. However, a month has passed but the bill has yet to get the assent, the Chief Minister said.
Date, month and ever year has changed, but the Governor has not approved the bill, Baghel said and demanded that the Reservation Amendment Bill may either be signed by the Governor or send back to the Assembly.
Through the Jan Adhikar Rally, the Chief Minister said his party and the government will fight for the rights of the people.
BJP never wanted that the condition of the people should change, whereas Congress always stands for the rights of the people, he said.
Accusing that the stand of the BJP was anti-reservation, the Chief Minister said BJP never wanted that anyone should get the benefit of the reservation.
Health Minister T S Singhdeo, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, AICC In-Charge Kumari Selja, PCC President Mohan Markam and other senior leaders also addressed the rally.
After the rally a delegation, led by Markam, went to the Raj Bhawan and handed over a memorandum for early approval of the bill.
Selja also took meeting of various organisational wings, committees and departments of the PCC, party sources said adding it was basically an introductory session with the new in-charge.
