Bilaspur, May 13, 2023: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today asked the officials to complete all the Arpa river projects as early as possible.
“We have to works towards making the Arpa a perennially flowing river,” Baghel said adding every one’s contribution is required to revive the river.
The Chief Minister also asked the officials to complete all the irrigation projects being undertaken in the Arpa basin.
Reviewing the works of the Arpa Basin Development Authority here at Bilaspur district headquarters, he said money was never a concern to develop the Arpa basin.
To revive the Arpa river government efforts are not sufficient. The contributions of the people are also needed for this, Baghel said.
For complete development of the catchment area the Arpa Basin Development Authority was created.
A total of 625 villages under the districts of Bilaspur, Marwahi, Mungeli and Korba have been included in the Arpa Authority.
A total of 3,634 square kilometre area have been coming under the catchment area.
A total of 116 projects of various sizes of the Irrigation Department are functional under the Arpa and its tributaries to irrigate 86,605 hectare areas of land.
To revive the Arpa currently three barrage projects are under progress, namely Arpa Bhainsajhar, Shivghat and Pachrighat projects.
