Raipur, December 4, 2008: The Election Commission of India has expressed strong displeasure over the functioning of the Chhattisgarh Police and asked the state government also to issue notice to the Bastar District SP Praveer Das.
The Election Commission has expressed its strong displeasure over the non-cooperative attitude of the Chhattisgarh Police during the investigation of the irregularities in the Keshkal assembly election, officials said here today.
During the on the spot investigation on November 24, last by the Chief Electoral Officer Dr Alok Shukla for the poll irregularities in naxal infested Keshkal segment, not a single police officers from SP to the IG were present, they said.
Because of which the Election Commission has expressed its strong displeasure over the attitude of the Inspector General of Police Bastar Range A N Upadhyaya, Bastar District Deputy Inspector General of Police T J Long Kumer, the officials said.
The Commission has also directed the state government to issue notice to the SP Bastar Praveer Das for the said reason, they said.
It was for the first time the Commission had taken such a big step at a time against so many senior officials.
