New Delhi, September 09, 2023: Efforts are on to bring back the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s ‘wagh nakh’ from London to India, official sources said.
‘Wagh nakh’ is an iron weapon, shaped like tiger claws, that was used by Shivaji Maharaj to kill Bijapur sultanate’s general Afzal Khan in 1659.
It is likely to be brought to Maharashtra from London in November, they added.
Efforts were also on to bring back the famed ‘Jagdamba’ sword of the 17th century Maratha warrior king from a museum in London.
Culture Minister of Maharashtra Sudhir Mungantiwar would be travel to the UK later this month to sign Memorandum of Understanding to get the wagh nakh back to India, reports said.
