Bhubaneswar, April 16, 2024: BJP Lok Sabah MP from Sambalpur Nitesh Ganga Deb has decided to distance himself from the saffron party where as his wife and son have joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today.

Nitesh Ganga Deb’s wife Arundhati Devi and their son Naman Ganga Deb today met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here and joined the ruling BJD.
Ganga Deb was denied ticket from Sambalpur parliamentary constituency and the BJP has put up Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in his place.
Ganga Deb is from the influential erstwhile royal family of Deogarh in western Odisha, who was not considered even for an assembly seat, when Odisha is going for general election to the 147-member house.
Deogarh Assembly segment falls under the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat.
BJD sources said Arundhati Devi might get a party ticket from the Deogarh assembly seat.

Meanwhile, disgruntled BJP MP from Koppal seat Sanganna Karadi quits the party over denial of a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections, sources said.
Karadi tendered his resignation to the BJP’s Karnataka unit president B Y Vijayendra. Speculations are rife that he may join the Congress in a day or two.
BJP has fielded Dr Basavaraj Kyavator from the seat. Karadi had been sulking ever since the party announced Kyavator’s candidature from Koppal.
