Ranchi, July 4, 2024: In a swift development Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Executive President Hemant Soren today took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
Governor C P Radhakrishnan administered oath of office and secrecy to Soren in a simple function at Raj Bhawan.
With this Hemant Soren becomes the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand since the state was carved out from Bihar in 2000.
Similarly this this is for the third time Soren took oath as Jharkhand CM.
He had resigned as the CM shortly before his arrest on January 31 by the Enforcement Directorate.
It was earlier decided that Soren would take oath on July 7. However, the leader had changed his mind and took oath, many believed, as he wanted the swearing in as soon as possible for the election going state.
Yesterday in a sudden development Champai Soren tendered his resignation and Hemant Soren met the Governor and staked claim to form his government.
The Jharkhand high court had granted him bail in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam, following which he was released on bail on June 28 after spending around five months in jail.
