     Raipur, September 24, 2024: The Chhattisgarh Government appointed magistrate inquiry started functioning from today for the Loharidih incident of Kawardha District.

      The state government has appointed Additional Collector Nirbhay Sahu as the Magistrate to inquire into the Loharidih incident under Rengakhar Police Station.

     Meanwhile, the Magistrate has appealed to the people to provide evidence or witness version on the incident.

     After death of Shiv Prasad Sahu on September 15 there was arsoning in the village of Loharidih, in which Raghunath Sahu was killed.

     After arsoning in the Loharidih village police allegedly assaulted large number of villagers, and arrested many and one more person was allegedly killed in police custody in Kawardha.

     To probe the incident a Magistrate inquiry has been ordered by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai after removing the Kawardha SP Abhishek Pallav and Collector Janmejay Mahobe and suspending Additional SP IPS Vikash Kumar, who is said to be under training.

     After allegation of merciless police assault on villagers, the entire 23 staff of the Rengakhar Police Station, including the Inspector and the ASI have been removed from the police station.

     The Inquiry magistrate has appealed to the people to submit their version through oral submission or in writing and documents between September 24, 2024 and October 4, 2024 during the office hour of 11 AM to 5 PM.

     They can submit their documents or witnesses at the Room Number 17 of the District Collectorate Kawardha in any working day, he said.

     The Magistrate is mandated to probe why the incident took place, what were the reasons, steps to be taken so that such incidents are not repeated and other suggestions the inquiry officer feels.
