Mumbai, December 05, 2024: Devendra Fadnavis today took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, while Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers.
Nearly two weeks after the assembly election results were declared on November 23, Governor C P Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to Fadnavis, Shinde and Pawar in a function today.
Eknath Shinde was the Chief Minister in the previous Government with Fadnavis and Pawar as his Deputy Chief Ministers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J P Nadda, several Union ministers and chief ministers of various states, besides thousands of supporters of the BJP-led Mahayuti, attended the grand ceremony at Azad Maidan.
Fadnavis (54), who is elected from Nagpur South West assembly constituency, became chief minister for the third time.
It is expected that other Ministers will be taken oath after the portfolios between BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP is finalized.
In a landslide victory the Mahayuti had won 230 seats in the 288 member Maharashtra Assembly and BJP alone got 132 seats, which made Fadnavis as a strong contender for the post of Chief Minister.
