Raipur, September 29, 2026: Home Department of Chhattisgarh has appointed retired Justice Gautam Chourdiya as the Chairperson of the Review Authority, which was constituted to independently review evidence gathered during investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, and to make recommendations to the State Government regarding the grant of sanction for prosecution.
According to the order issued by the Home Department, retired Justice Gautam Chourdiya of the Chhattisgarh High Court and currently the Chairperson of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Review Authority.
Officials stated that this appointment has been made in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 45 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
It is noteworthy that the notification regarding the constitution of the Review Authority was issued by the State Home Department on April 9, 2026. Now, retired Justice Chourdiya has been appointed as the Chairperson of this authority.
The objective of the Review Authority is to conduct an independent review of the evidence collected during investigations and to provide necessary recommendations to the State Government concerning the grant of sanction for prosecution.
The Authority will review the available evidence and the investigation process in the relevant cases.
