Raipur, February 9, 2025: At least 31 Maoists were killed today in a fierce encounter in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
Two of the security forces were also killed and an equal number of forces received gunshot injuries, who are airlifted for further treatment, a top police officer said.
“Bodies of 31 Maoists were recovered today in the jungle of National Park area in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh,” Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
“In that gun battle two of the security forces were also killed,” he said.

Giving details of the encounter, Sundarraj said, on information of the gathering of large number of Maoists in the jungle of the National Park area of Bijapur district a joint force of Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters raided the area.
On seeing forces, Maoists opened fire and after the fierce encounter on search of the area so far 31 dead bodies of the Maoists have been recovered, he said.

Besides 31 bodies, police has also recovered huge cache of arms and explosives, including Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL), assault rifles like AK-47, Self-Loading Rifles (SLR), INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) and .303 rifles.
Looking into the incident, reinforcements have been rushed to the encounter site and search operation is continuing, Sundarraj said.
Since forces are still inside the jungle, the IG of Police said, he was not revealing the encounter site and other details.
