Raipur, February 24 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the 19th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme from Bhagalpur, Bihar. Under this, Rs 22,000 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 9.8 crore farmers across the country. These include 25 lakh 95 thousand 832 farmers of Chhattisgarh.
In the bank account of 25 lakh 95 thousand 832 farmers of Chhattisgarh Samman Nidhi of Rs 599 crore 38 lakh has been sent, official sources said.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai also joined the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi programme here at Raipur. He congratulated the farmers who received Kisan Samman Nidhi in an event organised at the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University campus in the capital Raipur and also honoured them.
Chief Minister Sai said that the honour of food producers is like honouring of Mother Annapurna. “In a span of 14 months, we have sent about one lakh crore rupees to the accounts of farmers”.
Getting good prices for their products has brought prosperity in their lives. Farmers are moving towards modern farming. The prosperity of farmers has laid the foundation for strong rural development and the urban economy has also improved, Sai said.
So far, Samman Nidhi of Rs 9,712.58 crore has been given to the farmers of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, said Sai.
As compared to the year 2023-24, more than 2 lakh 75 thousand farmers have got the benefit of this scheme. 2 lakh 34 thousand forest lease holder farmers and 32 thousand 500 special backward tribe farmers of the state are also getting the benefit of this scheme, he said. The requirement of agricultural land was relaxed so that the farmers of special backward tribes could get the benefit of the scheme, he added.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi had guaranteed the purchase of paddy at Rs 3100 per quintal and 21 quintals per acre to the farmers. The state BJP government has fulfilled this promise.
Along with this, farmers were also given a guarantee of payment of the bonus due for two years. Within a fortnight of the swearing-in, bonus amount of Rs 3716 crore was released in the accounts of 13 lakh farmers, Sai added.
The previous year the state government had bought 145 lakh tons of paddy. “If we include the bonus amount along with the price of paddy given to the farmers, then Rs 49 thousand crore were sent to the accounts of farmers in the last Kharif season. In this Kharif season, a record purchase of more than 149 lakh tons of paddy was made. If we include the amount received from various schemes in this season, then an amount of about Rs 52 thousand crore has been sent to the accounts of farmers,” said Chief Minister Sai.
Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam also addressed the event organised at the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University campus in Raipur.
On this occasion, former Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Forest Medicine Board Ram Pratap Singh, Indira Gandhi University Vice Chancellor Girish Chandel, Agriculture Produce Commissioner (APC) Shehla Nigar, Director of Agriculture Department Dr. Saransh Mittar and a large number of farmers were present.
