Mahasamund 25 March 2025: The administration has seized a borewell vehicle and a support vehicle engaged in digging a borewell without permission in village Tumadbari of Mahasamund tehsil of Chhattisgarh.
Action was taken in this regard on the instructions of SDM Harishankar Pekara, in which borewell vehicle number CG04PJ 2316 and support vehicle CG 04MZ 0649 were seized, official sources said.
The administration had been informed that bore digging was being done in the land of Khemaram Sahu of village Tumadbari without any official approval.

On this, the team of Tehsildar Krishna Kumar Sahu and Deputy Tehsildar Mohit Amila reached the spot and stopped the work.
In the investigation, it was revealed that the person concerned did not have any permission to dig a bore. After this, both the vehicles were seized as per the instructions of the SDM, the sources said. After performing formalities in front of the villagers present on the spot the vehicles were handed over to the Mahasamund police station.

It is worth noting that digging borewells without permission is currently prohibited in Chhattisgarh. The administration has been taking strict action to control the groundwater level and prevent illegal digging.
According to the provisions, the authorized officer will grant permission if there is a need for digging a tubewell. The borewell digging or borewell repair will be done only by a registered borewell agency. If any person or agency is found digging a tubewell in violation of the said Act, action will be taken against them as per the rules.
The administration has appealed to the farmers and common citizens to first obtain the necessary permission for digging a borewell, otherwise legal action will be taken for illegal digging.
