Raipur, April 17, 2025: Taking a historic decision to give a new direction to fashion education and industrial development in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai chaired a Cabinet meeting today and approved the establishment of a new campus of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Nava Raipur, the smart city of the state.
The estimated cost of this project is Rs 271.18 crore.

This step of the Chhattisgarh government will not only open new opportunities in the field of fashion education for the youth of Chhattisgarh, but also prove to be a milestone in promoting industrial development and investment in the state.
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is one of the leading institutes in the field of fashion design, management and technology in India. Established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the institute currently has 17 campuses across the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

This 18th new campus to be established in Nava Raipur will be a proud achievement for Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai.
This institute will provide undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas such as fashion design, textile design, fashion management and fashion technology. Also, it will provide practical experience and placement opportunities to the students through collaboration with the fashion industry.

The establishment of NIFT in Nava Raipur will provide the youth of Chhattisgarh an opportunity to receive world-class fashion education in their own state. This institute will strengthen the fashion and textile industry by preparing technically trained human resources. Apart from this, the project will also promote employment generation and economic development at the local level.
“The goal of the Chhattisgarh government is to provide world-class education and employment opportunities to the youth of the state,” Chief Minister Sai said.
“The establishment of NIFT campus in Nava Raipur will not only bring a revolution in the field of fashion education, but will also take Chhattisgarh to new heights of industrial and economic development,” Sai added.

Nava Raipur an emerging global hub: Nava Raipur, which has already made its mark as a smart city, is now gaining new ground in the field of education and industry.
The establishment of NIFT Campus will give Nava Raipur an opportunity to become a major hub for the fashion and textile industry. This project will not only strengthen the local economy but will also enhance the image of Chhattisgarh at the national and international level.
