Raipur, April 27, 2025: Chhattisgarh government today took an important decision regarding the safety of lifts and escalators in the state.
Now registration, renewal and inspection of all lifts and escalators has been made mandatory, so that the safety of life and property of the people can be ensured, officials said.

Officials said that under this rule, it is necessary to operate lifts and escalators as per high safety standards. This will reduce the risk of accidents and businesses will also get relief from legal troubles.
On the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the government has also included all the services related to lifts and escalators in the Public Service Guarantee Act. Now it will be mandatory to complete these services within a maximum of 30 days.
If the work is not done within the stipulated time, then the concerned officials will be responsible. This will provide timely service to industries and commercial institutions.

Chief Minister Sai has said that the safety and facilities of the general public are the priority of our government. It is necessary to ensure safe arrangements for lifts and escalators. Therefore, we have included this service in the Public Service Guarantee Act, so that everyone gets timely service and their trust remains intact.
The Chief Electrical Inspectorate has appealed to all builders, commercial establishments and lift operators to strictly follow the new rules and provide safe lift and escalator facilities. This will also reduce insurance costs and reduce business risks.
