Bilaspur, May 20, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and dedicate 5 redeveloped railway stations of Chhattisgarh to the nation on 22 May under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Under the visionary initiative of Indian Railways “Amrit Bharat Station Yojana”, railway stations located at various places in the country are being given a modern look. In this sequence, 05 redeveloped major stations of Chhattisgarh will also be inaugurated, which include Dongargarh, Bhanupratappur, Bhilai, Urkura and Ambikapur stations, Railway sources said.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and dedicate to the nation 5 stations of Chhattisgarh along with 103 redeveloped railway stations across the country through video conferencing, the sources said.
Amrit Bharat Station Yojana is a nationwide initiative launched by Indian Railways, which aims to redevelop the stations and make them modern and futuristic in the field of passenger amenities, infrastructure, technology and beautification. The points on which special attention is being given under this scheme are
• State-of-the-art passenger facilities, such as modern waiting rooms, clean toilets, elevators, escalators
• Digital information systems and digital display boards
• Green building concept, rainwater harvesting, energy efficiency
• Beautification of station premises, murals, green areas and elements depicting local culture
• Easy access for Divyangjan, tactile paths, ramps etc.
• Systematic traffic and parking system
Through this scheme, railway stations will not only be centers of passenger facilities, but they will also develop as centers of cultural, social and economic activities, the sources added.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana in Chhattisgarh, a total of 32 railway stations of the state have been selected for development with an estimated cost of ₹ 1680 crore.
Work is being done towards infrastructure development, construction of state-of-the-art facilities and promotion of local art and heritage at these stations.

The Amrit Bharat stations of Chhattisgarh are: Bhatapara, Bhilai Power House, Tilda Nevra, Bilha, Bhilai, Balod, Dalli Rajhara, Bhanupratappur, Hathband, Sarona, Maroda, Mandir Hasaud, Urkura, Nipania, Bhilai Nagar, Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Dongargarh, Raigarh, Baradwar, Champa, Naila-Janjgir, Akaltara, Korba, Uslapur, Pendra Road, Baikunthpur Road, Ambikapur, Bilaspur, Mahasamund, and Jagdalpur.
The redevelopment of these stations will prove to be a revolutionary step towards connecting the remote and industrial areas of the state to the mainstream, promoting tourism and improving the standard of living of the local people.
