Ambikapur, July 09, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today said that the roots of Buddhist tradition are very deep in the state and the his government has adopted the path of development by assimilating the message of love, peace and compassion of Lord Buddha.
Chief Minister Sai, while addressing the unveiling ceremony of the newly installed grand statue of Lord Buddha in Mainpat of Sarguja district, expressed gratitude to the Tibetan community for the invitation.

He garlanded the statue of Lord Buddha and bowed to him and wishing happiness, prosperity and peace for the people of the state, he said there are many places in Chhattisgarh where Lord Buddha is worshipped.
Buddhist, Jain and Hindu traditions are seen together in Sirpur, which is a unique example of the inclusive culture of the state, the Chief Minister said.
Recalling the 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama, Sai said that his life is a living symbol of the principles of compassion, love and peace of Lord Buddha. His message for today’s world is a source of new hope and positivity.
Leaders from across the world, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have wished Dalai Lama on his birthday, which shows how deeply Lord Buddha’s thoughts have influenced global life, he said.

Mainpat is a place full of natural beauty and cultural diversity, which fascinates tourists. There is immense potential for tourism here, and the state government is committed to its overall development, the Chief Minister said.
Tourism has been given special priority in the new industrial policy of the state, and special incentives will be provided to those who start home stay facilities in areas like Mainpat, he said.
On this occasion, on the demand of the Tibetan Cooperative Society, the Chief Minister announced Rs 10 lakh for the construction of cemented road from Saila Resort in Mainpat to the Buddhist temple and Rs 20 lakh for the construction of a shed in the ancient Buddhist temple.
He also planted a sapling on this occasion.

The Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome in the programme as per traditional Tibetan customs. People enthusiastically met Sai with the tricolour in their hands, which made the atmosphere joyous.
Sarguja MP Chintamani Maharaj, Sitapur MLA Ram Kumar Toppo, Sarguja Collector Vilas Bhoskar, Settlement Officer Swang Yangso, Tibetan Cooperative Society President Tamding Tsering, Monastery Head Lama Dubje, Lama Jinpa and a large number of members of the Tibetan community were present in the programme.
