Raipur, July 14, 2025: A day-long workshop was organised at Kushabhau Thackeray University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Raipur on reorientation of National Education Policy: 2020.
The objective of the workshop was to review the implementation of one year of NEP in undergraduate courses implemented in the university and consider the necessary reforms.
Inaugurating the programme, Vice Chancellor of the University and Raipur Divisional Commissioner Mahadeo Kawre said that NEP 2020 will not only create new employment opportunities, but it will also help in connecting the youth with their local tradition and knowledge.

Kawre said that this policy will not limit the students to bookish knowledge, but will give them an opportunity to connect with practical skills and cultural roots, so that they can play an active role in the development of the country.
In the first technical session, Officer on Special Duty (NEP) of Higher Education, Dr. DK Srivastava highlighted various dimensions of the policy. He said that NEP promotes multidisciplinary education, in which students can choose subjects according to their interest and future requirements. Its objective is to develop a holistic and flexible education system.
In the second technical session, Joint Director of Higher Education Dr. G A Ghanshyam, while presenting his views on Indian knowledge tradition and Indian Philosophy, said that this policy will act as a bridge between modernity and cultural values. He said that connecting students with India’s rich tradition and moral values is an important goal of NEP, so that they can become responsible citizens.
On this occasion, University Registrar Sunil Kumar Sharma, while describing NEP as in line with the current and future employment requirements, said that its objective is not only to provide degrees, but also to equip students with professional skills.
In the programme, NEP Convenor of the University Prof Pankaj Nayan Pandey presented the annual report on NEP 2020.
Prof Pandey informed that in the last one year, the university has taken many effective initiatives under the implementation of the curriculum structure and optional subjects, due to which students have got the opportunity to study according to their interests.
On this occasion, Head of Department Dr. Rajendra Mohanty, Dr. Nripendra Kumar Sharma, Dr. Ashutosh Mandvi, Shailendra Khandelwal, Deputy Registrar Saurabh Sharma, Principals of colleges affiliated to the university, professors and a large number of students were present.
