Raipur, August 26, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today reviewed the relief and rescue operations from Japan of the Bastar region, which was devastated with heavy rainfall followed with floods.
Chief Minister Sai discussed with Revenue Secretary and Disaster Relief Commissioner Reena Babasaheb Kangale and Bastar Division Commissioner Doman Singh over the phone from Tokyo to know the progress of relief and rescue operations and gave necessary instructions, official sources said.
Revenue Secretary Kangale told the Chief Minister that flood situation persists in Dantewada, Bijapur and Bastar districts in southern parts of Chhattisgarh.
The administration is continuously conducting relief work in Lohandiguda, Darbha and Tokapal blocks of Bastar district.
She informed that 21 villagers have been safely evacuated from village Mandar of Lohandiguda block. At the same time, villagers were rescued and taken to safe places with the help of helicopter and boat in Lohandiguda area.
Revenue Secretary Kangale informed the Chief Minister that more than 68 people have been evacuated safely in the last 24 hours.
Sai directed the officials to keep the SDRF on high alert and there should be no laxity in relief work.
He directed all the collectors of the division to alert people by making announcements in low-lying areas and to take them to safe places quickly.
Chief Minister Sai praised the efforts of the administrative staff, SDRF and police force engaged in relief work and said that the state government is committed to take every possible step for the safety of the general public.
He said that the safety of the public is our top priority. I have instructed the administrative officials and SDRF to remain on high alert and provide assistance to the affected as per the need.
