Special Session of Chhattisgarh Assembly on Women Reservation today

A special session of the Chhattisgarh assembly has been convened today to discuss 33 per cent Reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies.

     Raipur, April 30, 2026: A special session of the Chhattisgarh assembly has been convened today to discuss 33 per cent Reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies.

      Moving a motion Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai demanded a one-third reservation for women in the country’s Parliament and all Legislative Assemblies be implemented with immediate effect.

      It is the opinion of this House that, with the objective of upholding the dignity of ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power) and ensuring the holistic development and empowerment of women, a one-third reservation for women in the country’s Parliament and all Legislative Assemblies be implemented with immediate effect, upon the completion of the delimitation process, the BJP government said.

     Treasury bench members levelled allegations that the opposition Congress was only rendering lip services and were not serious about the development of the women.

     Opposition raised that the ruling party had stated that they would bringing in a motion to condemn the Opposition on the Women reservation issue and today instead of that brought in a government motion on the issue demanding one-third reservation for women.

     On the issue of Women Reservation both the treasury and opposition benches are seen hurling charges and counter charges against each other.

     The house will discuss the issue of Women Reservation for the day.
