Rajnandgaon, July 31, 2026: Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh today left for the Speaker’s House in an e-rickshaw driven by Sarita Verma, following a workers’ conference held in Rajnandgaon.
Joy was evident on the face of e-rickshaw driver Sarita Verma as Dr Singh set off for the Speaker’s House in her vehicle after the conference, which took place here at the Padma Shri Govindram Nirmalkar Auditorium in Rajnandgaon.

The Speaker remarked that in today’s times, women are riding bicycles and motorcycles, driving cars, and even flying airplanes as pilots. Alongside education, women have taken significant strides towards becoming capable, empowered, and self-reliant.
Dr. Singh encouraged the women workers. During the ride, Zila Panchayat CEO Durga Prasad Adhikari and Sumit Upadhyay accompanied him in the e-rickshaw.
It is noteworthy that various public welfare schemes implemented by the government are transforming people’s lives, fostering social change and awakening, a glimpse of which was seen at the workers’ conference, where women workers shared their experiences.

During the conference, Assembly Speaker Dr Singh interacted with Usha Sahu, a beneficiary and e-rickshaw driver. He inquired about her education and urged her to continue her studies beyond the 10th grade.
The Assembly Speaker asked Usha Sahu’s husband if he felt apprehensive about his wife driving an e-rickshaw. Her husband, Bhavesh Sahu, explained that he had taught his wife to drive the e-rickshaw and encouraged her to do so, noting that it would strengthen their family financially and enable savings.
