Raipur 15 August 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, on the occasion of 80th Independence Day, hoisted the flag at the main function organized at the Police Parade Ground in the capital Raipur and extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state on Independence Day.
Paying tribute to the great freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed everything for the freedom of the country, Sai said that Independence Day is a sacred opportunity to worship Mother India, take inspiration from our glorious history and further strengthen the resolve to build a developed India.
The Chief Minister recalled the sacrifices of innumerable fighters of the freedom struggle, including Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Veer Savarkar.
He also paid tribute to the public leaders including Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, Veer Gundadhur, Gend Singh, Dhurva Rao, Yadav Rao, Venkat Rao, Debri Dhur and Ayatu Mahara, who awakened the flame of independence and self-respect on the land of Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister said that the message of Goswami Tulsidas – ‘There is no happiness in being dependent’, the words of Saint Kabir and the proclamation of Baba Guru Ghasidas ‘Mankhe-Mankhe Ek Samaan’ give us constant inspiration for the values of freedom, equality and human dignity.
Referring to the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukerjee, he recalled his resolve for national unity.
Sai said that the bold leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the determination of Union Home Minister Amit Shah have resulted in historic success against Naxalism. Today, in Bastar, which is free from Maoism, independence is being celebrated through Tricolor Yatras. Areas that were once affected by violence and fear have today witnessed a new dawn of peace, trust and development.
He said that the all-round progress of Bastar is among the top priorities of the double engine government. The organization of the 26th meeting of the national level Central Regional Council in Jagdalpur is a symbol of the new identity of the changing Bastar. Now is the golden time for the reconstruction of Bastar.
The Chief Minister said that through ‘Niyad Nella Naar 2.0’ and ‘Bastar Munne Abhiyan’, the benefits of the schemes are being extended to more than 39 lakh people of Bastar division by ensuring 100 per cent saturation of 31 schemes and 14 community facilities. Along with the reopening of schools which were closed due to Naxal violence, 36 new schools have been approved. Education cities are being developed in remote areas like Orchha and Jagargunda.
Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Swasth Bastar Abhiyan’, health profiles of more than 34 lakh people have been examined and health profiles have been prepared. ‘Aajeevika Unnayan Yojana’ worth Rs 4,824 crore has been prepared to increase the income of about 10 lakh families. Security camps are now becoming centers of service and development and civic amenities, skill development and entrepreneurship are being promoted through ‘Seva Dera’ starting from Netanar village of Veer Gundadhur.
He said that a strong foundation of roads, electricity, transport and communication is being prepared in Bastar. Work is underway to connect 461 villages energized with solar energy to the grid-based electricity system and to connect 234 interior settlements to main roads. 814 villages of Bastar and Sarguja divisions are getting public transport facility through ‘Mukhyamantri Gramin Bus Seva’.
