Raipur, September 10, 2026: Following the deaths of approximately two dozen people due to adulterated liquor in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today issued directives during a review meeting with senior police and administrative officials to take strict action against the manufacture, sale, storage, and transportation of illegal and adulterated liquor.
The Chief Minister instructed the Excise Department, Police, and district administration to conduct a special campaign through mutual coordination. He directed that joint teams carry out raids in areas or locations suspected of illegal liquor manufacturing, storage, sale, or adulteration.
Sai ordered the police and the Excise Department to undertake joint operations while maintaining a regular exchange of information.
He stated that the strictest legal action must be ensured against individuals found involved in the manufacture or adulteration of illegal liquor.
Additionally, he directed officials to increase surveillance in border areas and effectively curb the influx of illegal liquor from other states.
Sai stated unequivocally that if negligence or apathy is observed at any level regarding compliance with the government’s directives, the concerned officials will be held accountable, and strict action will be taken against them.
The Chief Minister directed all Collectors and Superintendents of Police to immediately implement the instructions given in the meeting and to ensure regular reviews of the actions taken in their respective districts.
Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Richa Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Department Manoj Kumar Pingua, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister Rajat Bansal, Joint Secretary Prabhat Malik, and other officials were present on this occasion.
