Raipur, September 10, 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today directed all Divisional Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police (IGPs), District Collectors, Superintendents of Police (SPs), and senior administrative and police officials across Chhattisgarh to conduct immediate inspections and safety audits of hostels, PGs, coaching centers, schools, and large educational buildings in all districts.
Addressing a high-level review meeting with senior administrative and police officials via video conferencing from the CM House in Raipur, Chief Minister Sai stated that the safety of students and citizens is the government’s top priority.
He emphasized that the administration’s responsibility is not limited to taking action after an incident occurs; rather, it is also our duty to identify potential hazards in advance and mitigate them.
While issuing directives for immediate inspections and safety audits of hostels, PGs, coaching centers, schools, and large educational buildings, Sai instructed that wherever safety-related deficiencies are found, necessary improvements must be ensured within a set timeframe.
He directed Collectors and Superintendents of Police to personally monitor the situation in their respective districts and ensure that the effective implementation of government directives is visible at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister also ordered an assessment of the actual condition of old and dilapidated buildings housing schools, libraries, hostels, and other public facilities. He stated that buildings found to be hazardous or posing a risk to human life must be identified, and immediate, necessary action taken.
The Chief Minister remarked that the administrative system should be designed to identify potential risks in time and eliminate the possibility of accidents before they happen. He emphasized that adherence to safety standards must be given the highest priority, especially in institutions catering to children and students.
Sai instructed officials to develop an effective system for safety-related inspections in the districts. He stressed the need to cultivate a work culture of continuous monitoring and timely rectification, moving away from the tendency to act only after a complaint is lodged or an accident occurs.
Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Richa Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Department Manoj Kumar Pingua, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister Rajat Bansal, Joint Secretary Prabhat Malik, and other officials were present on this occasion.
