     Naya Raipur, November 03, 2012: Adding a successful chapter in its glorious history, Chhattisgarh has attracted Rs 1.22 lakh crore investment proposals during the 2-day Global Investment Meet, ended today.

     “Various industrial houses have agreed for Rs 1,22,419 lakh crore worth of investment in Chhattisgarh,” State Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said addressing the concluding function of the Meet at the Naya Raipur capital complex in the presence of several top business houses and diplomats.

     About 268 memorandums of understanding have already been signed, which would generate about 6.2 lakh employment opportunities in the state under various sector, he said.

     Today was not the end of the Global Investor Meet, rather it was the beginning of a new era, Singh said adding “we have tried to club together investment with employment”.

     Chhattisgarh had decided to go for non-core sector during this investor meet, since that would generate more employment with less investment, he said.

     Chhattisgarh wanted a sustainable development, he said.

      When the nation was passing through an industrial depression, to turn that into an opportunity and a positive growth, Chhattisgarh organized the investor meet, the Chief Minister said.

     Later talking to reporters, he said for speedy disposal of the cases, a time bound programme approach has been adopted and the Chief Secretary would monitor the progress by himself.

      Talking about the investment, he said the BALCO has signed an MoU with CII of Rs 1000 crore for above setting up of 50 aluminium parks in the state to generate 7000 employment opportunities.

     Transportation of gas was a bigger problem, Singh said adding a gas pipe line was passing through Chhattisgarh, which would help both the domestic and industrial users in the state.

      For a 302 Km railway track industrial corridor an MoU was signed today with an investment of Rs 4000 crore.

     Similarly Rs 4000 crore would be invested in automobile sector in the state, he said.
