Raipur, June 09, 2026: The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, approved a proposal today to transfer the subject of ‘Yoga’ from the Social Welfare Department to the Medical Education Department.
In a significant decision the Cabinet, held at the Secretariat, approved the proposal to move ‘Yoga’ from the Social Welfare Department to the Medical Education Department.
Officials briefing on the meeting stated that Yoga is an integral part of the AYUSH system, and activities related to Yoga education, research, and associated initiatives are managed at the national level through the AYUSH framework.

The decision to place Yoga under the Medical Education Department was made considering the nature of the subject and the need for administrative coordination. This move will ensure better coordination and effective execution of academic, training, and research activities related to Yoga.
Additionally, the Cabinet granted approval to convey consent to the Government of India regarding the Direct Debit Mandate (DDM) under the Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) scheme, aimed at the effective implementation of the Prime Minister’s e-Bus Sewa scheme.
This decision paves the way for the operation of a total of 240 sanctioned electric buses across Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Bilaspur, and Korba.
Through this scheme, citizens of the state will gain access to modern, eco-friendly, safe, and affordable public transport facilities. It will also help reduce pollution in urban areas, enhance energy efficiency, and strengthen the public transport system.
