Raipur, June 30, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain today created a history in the administrative cadre of the state by getting extension of service.
Jain was to retire from service today but in a turn of event he was given extension for three months.
After getting letter from the Department of Personnel and Training of the Government of India vide letter number 26014/03/2022-AIS-II (Pension) Dt 30-06-2025 the state government extended the services of Jain for three months.
“After approval from the Department of Personnel and Training of the Government of India vide letter number 26014/03/2022-AIS-II (Pension) Dt 30-06-2025, the state government is extending the service of Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain for three months from Dt 01-07-2025 to 30-09-2025,” an order of the General Administration Department of the Chhattisgarh said.
Amitabh Jain is an IAS officer of Chhattisgarh of 1989 batch.
He was made the Chief Secretary on November 30, 2020, when Congress was in Power in the state and even after change in guard and Vishnu Dev Sai became Chief Minister he continued.
Jain is the first Chief Secretary of the state who got extension in service, thus created a sort of history in the state administration.
Earlier in the day he called on the Governor Ramen Deka and the Governor even wished Jain a happy retired life and gave him some mementos.
But by afternoon it was cleared that Jain has got extension of service.
