Bilaspur, November 11, 2014: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today defended his Health Minister Amar Agrawal over the sterilization episode and said the Minister cannot be blamed for the incident.
″The Health Minister does not conduct operations,″ said the Chief Minister when he was asked by media whether he would seek resignation of his Health Minister.
However, the Chief Minister said ″This is a big incident, a case of huge negligence, most unfortunate incident.″
″The government is serious on this matter and action will be taken against the people responsible for the death and the negligence,″ Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh told reporters at Raipur.
Both the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi have expressed their concern over the incident.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh met the family members of the victim at Bilaspur.
The Chief Minister also announced Rs 4 lakh financial assistance to the family members of the victims.
