Raipur, June 30, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister-Urbal Development Arun Sao today came down heavily on the previous Congress government, led by Bhupesh Baghel, saying it had stopped conducting audit of the urban local bodies of the state.
The previous Congress government had stopped the audit works of the urban local bodies in the state since October 2020, Sao said.
Audit is essential to bring in financial discipline, he said.
“Because of this, I have directed for starting of pre-audit of all the 184 urban local bodies of the state,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
He has also ordered for audit of the previous four years also.
Besides the 184 urban local bodies, instruction has also been issued to audit Mechanical Section and State Urban Development Authority (SUDA) of the Urban Administration and Development Department of the state, he said.
For the first time pre and internal audit was conducted in the state for the urban local bodies from the fiscal 2015-16.
