Sukma, April 23, 2012: For the first time a high level government delegation today met Asha, wife of Sukma Collector Alex V F Paul Menon V, who has been abducted by the Maoists on Saturday during Gram Suraj campaign.
PHE and ST, SC Welfare Minister Kedar Kashyap, who is also the in-charge Minister for Sukma, Konta MLA Kawasi Lakhma, Principal Secretary Home N K Aswal and principal Secretary to the Chief Minister N Baijendra Kumar today met Asha Menon.
The Minister and the officials also apprised her about the steps the state government was taking to secure the release of the Collector, officials said.
The Minister also assured all assistance to secure the safe release of Menon from the clutches of the Maoists.
When the 2006-batch IAS officer was on April 21 on a tour of the Majhipara area in Sukma District during Gram Suraj Abhiyan, he was confronted by the Maoists guerrilla and after exchange of fire, the civil servant was kidnapped by Maoists after killing both his body guards.
