Raipur, April 23, 2023: The individual applications for unemployment allowances have crossed one lakh within 23 days of its opening for registration, officials said today.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had launched the Unemployment Allowance to the youth on April 1, 2023 in a function at the CM House.
Launching the scheme, the Chief Minister had approved allowances to four unemployed youth that day.
Per month Rs 2500 would be given to the identified youth for initially one year and subsequently that may be extended for another year.
Applications of 40,000 youths had been approved so far for providing unemployment allowances, officials said.
In the last 23 days the state government had received 1,00,002 applications from youth for unemployment allowance, officials said.
After verifying their documents 57,207 had been recommended for the allowances, they said adding about 40,000 had already been sanctioned.
In the first day on April 1, when the scheme was launched 4269 youths had registered their names in the unemployment allowance portal.
To avail the benefit, one has to be a domicile of Chhattisgarh and between the age group of 18 to 35, the officials said.
The person has to pass Class 12th from a recognised board and registered in the Employment Registration Centre of the state.
The youth has to be registered for at least two years in the Employment Registration Centre and does not have any source of income and the income of the entire family should never exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum.
The government clarified that the family means wife, husband, dependent children and dependent father, mother.
Initially for one year the unemployment allowance would be given and if the beneficiary did not get any engagement it may extend to another year. But at no cost the benefit would be given beyond two years.
One person from a family will be eligible for such allowance and if the beneficiary refused an offer of job from any government or private organisations, the person will no longer be eligible for any further allowance.
